More than 1,000 women a
month die from breast cancer in the UK.
Over 41,000 women a year are
diagnosed with breast cancer.
Most cases (approximately
80%) of breast cancers occur in post - menopausal women.
The UK has one of the
highest incidences of breast cancer in the world. It also has one of the
world's highest mortality rates from the disease.
Breakthrough Breast
Cancer is the leading charity committed to fighting breast cancer
through research and education and has established the UK's first
dedicated breast cancer research centre, in partnership with The
Institute of Cancer Research.
Breakthrough campaigns for
policies that support breast cancer research and a pioneering approach to
breast cancer services in the UK.
'The
Second Wives Club' by Jane Moore was released in May 2006 and was promoted
heavily across The UK through adverts and posters for the book in many places, in
magazines and on television.

The
front cover of The Second Wives Club shows a very nice pair of Gina 'Gloss
Python' Size 7 shoes. The auction was the chance to win these actual shoes
donated by Jane Moore ~ thank you Jane, together with a letter of
authenticity from Jane Moore herself, plus a copy of The Second Wives
Club, personally signed to you (or to whoever you wish) by Jane Moore.
These Gina
'Gloss Python' Size 7 shoes cost £325 (box included) and were nearly as new.
These were worn on the photo shoot by the model and so had some slight marks to
the soles. Apart from these slight marks, the shoes were as new.

The Gina shoes (size 7), in their original box, together with a letter of authenticity from Jane Moore and a copy of
The Second Wives book personally signed by Jane Moore with all proceeds (final
bid less eBay fees) raised donated to Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
The auction took place on eBay and
between Friday 19th May and Monday 29th May 2006. A total of £320.00 was
raised ~ thank you.
